東京オリンピックが終わった。開会、閉会式のクオリティは芸術的レベルから考えても過去最低だった気がする。

それでもアスリートは最高のパフォーマンスを見せてくれた。歴史の１ページがめくられた瞬間がいくつもあった。先人の歴史が繋がった競技もあり、新しい歴史の１ページが始まる競技もあった。

オリンピックやスポーツだけではなくファッションもどんな物事にも今の１ページに辿り着くまでに膨大なページが有り、１ページ足りとも飛ばして辿り着く事は出来ない。必然的に歴史として脈々と繋がっている。

その観点から考えて、今回の東京オリンピックは歴史の繋がりが感じられなかった気がした。1964年の東京オリンピックから何が繋がってきたのか、変わってきたものは何なのか。デザインで言えば柳宗理のデザインしたトーチや、社会的にはピクトグラムがどう進化したのか。技術的には何が進んだのか。新型コロナ禍とは言え、はっきりと分からなかったのが個人的に残念だった。

あと何年後にまた日本でオリンピックが開催されるか分からないが、良くも悪くも歴史を未来に繋げて、次こそは全てにおいて史上最高の日本のオリンピックを期待したい。

Still, the athlete showed the best performance. There were many moments when one page of history was turned over. In some competitions, the history of the ancestors was connected, and in other competitions, a new page of history began.

Not only the Olympics and sports, but also fashion and anything else, there are a huge number of pages to reach the current page, and it is not possible to skip even one page. Inevitably, it is connected with history.

From that point of view, I felt that there was no historical connection at this Tokyo Olympics. What has been connected since the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, and what has changed? In terms of design, how did the torch designed by Sori Yanagi and the pictogram evolved socially? Although it was a new type of corona, it was a pity that I couldn't understand it clearly.

I don't know how many years from now that the Olympic Games will be held in Japan again, but for better or for worse, I would like to connect history to the future and expect the best ever Japanese Olympic Games in all.
